“We are slowed down sound and light waves, a walking bundle of frequencies tuned into the cosmos.”
—Albert Einstein
[Last call for Summer Writing Circles. Enrollment closes Friday, July 11, at noon Pacific Time. New session begins Monday, July 14.]
Dear Friend,
Do you ever feel like you’re living in a world ruled by words that begin with the letter “D”?
Deadlines. Devices. Data. Drama. Doubt. Dishes. Disorder. Distractions. Demands. Doing. Depletion. Discontent. Decisions. Detours. Debt. Dread. Delays. Denial. Disappointment. Disconnection.
These things tug at our minds and emotions. They scatter energy, sabotage stillness, and lure us away from the deep, sustaining rhythms of being and creating.
I enjoy writing most when I open the valve of my inner pressure cooker. This helps me tap into presence.
Our souls speak in dreams, pauses, and in the quiet spaces between distractions.
Creative life needs room. Breath. Time to drift and roam. It sighs with relief when we shed strain, receive fewer notifications, and give ourselves permission to do less and be more.
Summer is an excellent time to slow down.
When we step away from distractions and focus on what matters, we breathe easier.
I encourage you—and I am practicing this, too—to let go of doing and embrace divine delays—pauses that call us back to ourselves, and enable us to return to our natural sense of wonder and play.
You are not your output, your inbox, your metrics, or your list of unfinished tasks.
You are an infinite creative being having a human experience. And your worth is inherent.
Let this be your invitation to pause, breathe, and reorient—not around the demands of work and the craziness of our modern world, but around the wisdom of your own heart.
Let the “D’s” that matter be depth, delight, discovery, devotion, and dreams.
The sky is vast, and so are you! Keep flying, friend.
Blessings,
Bella

beautiful, Bella. such potent reminders. I so miss writing with you and everyone.
Yes! All the "D" words, Bella.
The thing is, summer might be an apt time to slow down, but it always ends up being the busiest time of year for my family. I think I struggle with it so much, because all five of my kids are home--and they are LOUD and they are messy and they fight constantly and they are needy and whiny and can't seem to figure out where the step stool is or whether they can have an extra freeze pop or or or or...
Anyway, winter is my time to slow down. I try to catch the natural cadence of longer nights/more darkness to pattern my time for contemplation. Still, with five kids it's a...challenge, shall we say?
